How to Clean Up After a Flood

Flood waters can cause devastating ruin to homes and businesses. If you live in an area that\'s prone to floods, you might know how much work it is to clean up after the flood waters have receded. If you\'ve never been through a flood before, here are some things you\'ll need to do to clean up after a flood.

When your house floods, the water can wreak havoc on the structure of the house, your personal belongings, and the health of the inside environment. Flood waters contain many contaminants and lots of mud. High dollar items can get ruined all at once, even with just an inch of water, for example: carpeting, wallboard, appliances, and furniture. A more severe storm or deeper flood may add damage to even more expensive systems, like: ducts, the heater and air conditioner, roofing, private sewage and well systems, utilities, and the foundation.

Why You Should Buy Hybrid Truck in 2007

Planning to buy a new car or truck but don’t know what to do? The simple answer is go for either hybrid car or hybrid truck. Yes you read it right. Hybrid cars and trucks have become very popular and people are running to buy the best one from the lot. But what is hybrid?

Hybrid means a mix or fusion. In the case of hybrid cars and trucks, it refers to the employment of dual means to power a vehicle. People prefer hybrid cars and trucks over other cars as this not only saves money but also they are environment friendly. So why not go for this option only. However, the main question pops up is that what the key behind the new technology is. Every user and consumer has right to know about this technology so that they can derive a decision whether to go or not.

Owing a hybrid car and truck is the best benefit consumer can ever get. The batteries equipped in the car or truck recharged internally. This means no more worrying of recharging. In other words, now no need to hook the vehicle into a wall. Another best advantage you can cash upon is the inclusion of a regular, albeit small, gasoline engine.

But if this hybrid car and truck has only two benefits, what is the hubbub all about? What makes hybrid car and truck so special that South Park will devote an entire episode to them and its drivers? The answer is power. Hybrid car and truck is powered packed as there are two types of hybrid vehicle: parallel and series. Both perform different functions but on the same principle having slight variation. In short, both are equally complicated and even competent.

Firstly taking this parallel hybrid car and truck, we come to know that this type of design involves the two means of generating power. Those are an engine fueled from a gas tank and an electric motor supplied by batteries that generally reside under the floorboards. However, both connect autonomously to the transmission, which in turn propels the vehicle. Hybrid car and truck has the electric motor which functions as a generator that amasses excess energy derived from the heat of braking and returns it to recharge the batteries.

Now talking about series type hybrid car and truck, in this type you have one system affecting the other. Herein the generator employs the electric motor, which runs the transmission that drives the vehicle. One of the most interesting aspects of the hybrid and one that definitely raises the vehicle's cool factor is the automatic engine shut-off. That’s why hybrid cars and trucks have become highly selling vehicle these days.

Hence it won’t be wrong to say that hybrid cars and trucks have plenty of advantages and owing one will be of great help.

Hybrid car information provides you latest trend in hybrid vehicle area.

Panel Heaters For Energy Efficiency In Your Home

Panel heaters are very useful in cooler climates for year round use. They are the perfect solution for providing instant, controllable heat to areas which do not require constant heating all through the day.

Regardless of the size of the area, panel heaters are capable of heating bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, kitchens and other areas of your home efficiently. These rooms in your home might only require heating for short periods of the day. If a panel heater has a splashproof IP rating it can be used in a bathroom .The splash proof nature of a panel heater make it suitable for heating bathrooms in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Sleek and slim, these heaters are easy to install and use. However, there is more to panel heaters which make them an ideal electric heating system.
Panel heaters are well known as efficient electric heating systems, as these are designed to consume minimal power. You would end up saving huge amount of energy, which would certainly have a bearing on your utility bills.

The energy efficient panel heaters make use of the natural convection principle to ensure minimal consumption of electricity. Each panel heater is designed to be mounted on the wall, a few inches above the floor. The small air gap behind the heater draws in cold air from the floor. Since the gap is too small, the cold air gets heated very quickly and then rises out of the gap at the top of the panel. More cold air then rushes in to replace the heated air. The process continues and eliminates the need for a fan. This in turn increases the energy efficiency of the panel heater.
You can choose between fixed panel heaters or portable panel heaters. Low wattage portable panel heaters are economical to run as they consume less power; the power consumed by them is equivalent to that consumed by 4 incandescent light bulbs. So, when you think about energy efficient heating solution for your home, think panel heaters.

There are many brands selling fixed and portable panel heaters. Two names you may trust when it comes to energy efficient panel heating system are that of Dimplex and Creda. Dimplex electronic panel heaters are ultra compact wall heaters. These heaters feature cutting edge technology and provide rapid heat and accurate temperature control at the flick of a switch. There are many options available in fixed Dimplex panel heaters. You could choose the Dimplex Monterey designer style panel heater, Dimplex Girona glass fronted panel heater, Dimplex radiant electronic panel heater, Dimplex EPX panel convector heater, or Dimplex Skirting panel convector heater depending on your requirements.

Security Alarm System Motion Detectors

Passive Infrared Motion Detectors- These detectors are also known as PIR detectors. The technology they utilize is “passive infrared”. The device is mounted on a wall or in the corner of a room. It sends invisible fingers out into the covered area in several layers. The top layer goes the furthest and averages about 60 feet straight ahead and 35 feet on the sides.

The center layer of beams spreads the area about mid way and the bottom layer sweeps the room closest to the detector. These beams individually measure the infrared temperature of what ever they land on and look for a clash of temperature against that point. For example if a beam lands on your couch and knows what temperature it is, when you walk in front of the couch your temperature is different and causes a violation. You would be hard pressed to match the temperature of everything in your home as you walk about and that makes motion detectors hard to compromise.

Passive motion detectors have a microchip in them that will adjust the device for slow and methodical temperature changes. This way as your room warms up and cools down during an armed alarm period, you will not get a false alarm.

Some motion detectors are designed to be mounted in the ceiling and spread a 360-degree cone downward. Some are recessed to replicate an electric outlet and various other combinations are available for the James Bond like clients. Most often the device is an aesthetically pleasing small device that is mounted 5-7 feet high in the corner of a room.

Passive infrared motion detectors will not see through walls or windows as they will consider touching one of them as their final destination and begin calculating the temperature. The beams project forward only and will not bend around corners. If your device is placed where a beam can go into an area with an opened door, it will protect the interior of that area as well. Once the door is closed the beam will terminate on that door.

Motion detectors are not going to protect every square inch of your home or business unless you invest in many of them to accomplish that. Instead you should intelligently place them as an interior trap in an area or areas most likely to be violated by the creep or creeps that want to take your belongings or worst off violate you personally. Usually one placed properly on the main floor and one on the lower level if you have one, will serve as good traps. Stairways are often a good thing to consider when placing the device, due to the fact that you will prevent unauthorized passage from one floor to the next.

(HOT TIP!) An alarm installer should always place a device where it will best serve the user and achieve the most coverage. Many an installer has elected to forgo this concept so that they can install the device in an area that is easier to get to with the wires. Insist on discussing all placement options with your installer before they place each motion detector. You can bet that your interests will be prioritized when they see your involvement in the decision process.

Dual Technology PIR- Dual means two technologies are used in one device. Both technologies must be violated to cause an alarm. These devices are used in harsh environments such as a garage or sun- room. The first technology is passive infrared and works as explained above. The second technology is most often Doppler and looks for the invisible movement of air. If you walk into a room the air has to move as your body mass pushes it along. The reason you would want a dual technology device is clear when you apply common sense to the desired area of protection. For example let’s say you pull your car in to a cool garage, go in the house and turn the alarm on for the night. Your motion detector that you put in your garage will see a dramatic temperature change as the heat from your engine radiates into the cool air. If you had a duel technology motion detector it would not see the air moving because your car is still, so it will refuse to go into an alarm condition.

Pet Immune Motion detector- This is a wonderful advancement in motion detection that may work for you if your pet free- roams your house while you are away and have your motion detectors on. Before the introduction of this technology the pet owner had to either confine their pets from the protected area or bypass the motion detector rendering it useless unless the pet was out of the home with them. The technology is the same as the regular passive infrared detectors. On the pet immune version there are two sets of beams that are offset from each other. Your pet must hit two pre- assigned beams simultaneously in order to violate the detector. Pets under a certain amount of weight (up to 85 pounds) are not long enough to hit both beams so it does not see them. A human torso is designed much differently as per a weight to length ratio causing them to violate either a horizontal or vertical pair of beams, depending on their favorite burglarizing posture.

On the pet immune detectors the middle and lower span of beams are pet immune but the top layer is not, due to the distance of separation between the farthest-reaching beams. Care must be taken on the placement of these devices restricting the high beams from stairways and high ledges your cat may get up on. (6-7 feet high) A good technician will mask only the beams that hit these trouble spots expanding your coverage options.

Remember that even though your device is technically restricted for use by weight of your pet, two or more small animals will have an opportunity to hit the two proper beams while playing with each other. I do not recommend that you use these devices with two or more pets no matter how small they are, unless one of them is rarely moving about. Also one free flying bird will look like a dinosaur entered the room if it flies close to the detector. (They have yet to design the “Dinosaur Immune Detector”)

If your pets do not fall into the allowances for using a pet immune motion detector then you should consider other options for creating interior traps. The well- designed system protects your perimeter as well as possible and creates interior traps in case the perimeter is circumvented.

Most people would admit that they could use a little organizational help in their lives. There are a lot of products that can help you maximize your space. In the shower, having a little help can make for a bit of time savings and even cost savings.

The Shave Saver is a product that holds your disposable razor and has a digital display panel that you can program to help you determine how many shaves you have remaining on your razor. This holds most brands of razors.

Instead of being stuck with a dull razor because you didn’t know you needed replacements or throwing out blades because you weren’t sure how many times you used them, this little gadget can take the guesswork out disposable razor blades.

Isn’t It Time To Install Wall Sconces

Mount wall sconce lights in your home to make it more livable. Wall sconces have can create the perfect home mood. If you want a calm effect, wall illumination can do this. There are many wall sconces you can use to decorate your home. Choose the wall lightings styles that compliment your rooms.

Among all the fixtures available in the market wall sconce lighting gives you an exciting and sensual mood when place properly. At most, these vanity light fixtures produce soft and indirect lighting, making them ideal for a romantic and soothing ambience.

Some lighting designers liken this wall lighting to gaslights used in most films. However, they prefer to use sconce for safety reasons. This type of lighting can be arranged to give the light you want. For example, wall lamps can be used to blend with an intimate theme or inspiring style.

To use light sconces, it is helpful to remember that they should be used in pairs or trios. Using one sconce may not bring out the desired aura of the room, nor does it satisfy its purpose. Depending on your style, you can use wall sconces on either side of the mirror in the house. They are also ideal on two sides of the main door inside the house.

If you want to install vanity light fixtures in your bedroom, you can install them above the nightstands to produce a stylish décor. If you want, you can have them installed on both side of your bed. There are also specific bathroom sconces that can add accent.

In addition, one sconce on either side of the mirror is great for task lighting. Another wall lamp can be mounted on the wall near the sink.

You can even put sconces on the outside walls to create a new outdoor appearance. They can also provide security. If you are a type of person who loves the outdoors, you can create an inviting garden or front yard with well-chosen wall sconces.

The good thing about this wall lamp is its flexible mounting. You can mount them on any type of material such as plastic, stone, sheet rock, plaster, wood, brick, and tile.

Of course, just like any vanity lighting fixture, wall lights come in different shapes, design and style. Ensure that each sconce matches the furniture and other décor in the room. Sometimes, wall lights are complementary to other lighting systems in the room or area. If this is the case, it would be better that all lights blend with each other’s unique style.

You can also buy a complete set of light fixtures that match, which is helpful, if you are redecorating a house. If you want a classic theme, there is a lighting system that can provides all lights that you need, such as chandeliers, wall sconces, floor lamps, pendant lights, and recessed lights.

Sconce height is an important factor in installing this lighting fixture. The ideal height is between head level and overhead level. But of course, the location where you install the wall light is another consideration in determining the ideal sconce height. If it is on the sides of a door, sconces should be level with the top portion of the door.

There are sconce fixtures whose bulb uses a high wattage. For rooms that are very dark, you will need lights that are bright.  In shopping for your wall lamps, you have to consider its role in the room. Just as mentioned earlier, you have to determine if the wall sconces are complementary or decorative.

If the room has other sources of bright lights for task lighting, then you can choose a low voltage bulb and make the wall lights your source for accent lighting. If you want extra security, mount high wattage fixture on the external wall areas.

Build Your Own Greenhouse - Gothic Arch Greenhouses

If you want to build a greenhouse, you should be careful planning, the final choice of the greenhouse will depend on the growing space desired, Home architecture, available sites, and costs.

Backyards, rooftops, crop production fields, from the Arctic Circle to the equator – almost every climate and environment can benefit from some kind of greenhouse. Controlling the environment in these greenhouses can mean more heat, more shade, supplemental lights, insect screens, etc. Lets look at some commonsense approaches and basic deciding factors one can use in site planning for a greenhouse:

Light Just as in planning a garden, greenhouse growers should be very aware of changing light patterns throughout the seasons. Even in an open field, one needs to be aware of orientation to the direction of sun. Intelligent site planning in a backyard can save a lot of energy and may
allow growers the edge that will make their plants thrive.

Look for deciduous trees – cover from deciduous trees can give the much needed shading in the summer, which is probably the most difficult time of year to keep anything thriving in the average backyard greenhouse. Also, remember that the angle of light changes from winter to summer, as well as the rise to fall points on the horizon. This will help with orientation to other buildings, high fences, etc.

Foundation and site drainage - Consider the type of foundation on which the greenhouse will be installed and consider the drainage and elevation of the site. The drainage of the site is crucial. Always, factor in what foundation requirements are for each model and type of greenhouse.

Energy Input issues - Your greenhouse will need energy input to power fans, heaters, etc. Thinking out the distance from your power and water source is a very necessary first step in a friction free greenhouse building process….

Once your power is there, you will need it for a variety of environmental controls. Fans (both ventilation and circulation), motorized controls for vent windows, evaporative cooling pumps, heaters (if electric), etc.

Ventilation is probably the most important issue in a greenhouse, without it the greenhouse quickly turns into a solar oven in which no plant can survive. Ventilation in the greenhouse is maintained through passive vent windows on the sides and ridge of the greenhouse and/or through fans and shutters mounted on opposing ends of the greenhouse.

Circulation fans are important to distribute heat and agitate plants preventing soft growth and stretchy internodes.

Evaporative coolers work by pushing or pulling air through a water-saturated pad and into the greenhouse. They are most efficient in dry climates, but work in humid tropical climates as well. Misting systems with natural ventilation are also a viable option for cooling the greenhouse in some climates.

Coverings, Insulation, and Light Transmission

I’m going to break down greenhouse coverings into three basic material groups: polyethylene film, polycarbonate, and glass. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

Polyethylene film, or poly film, is the film plastic sheeting commonly seen on commercial greenhouse ranges and inexpensive hoop style Greenhouses. The typical lifespan of the material is about 4 years, after which it will need to be removed and replaced. For some, this is the nature of the business and is budgeted into the equation of growing in a greenhouse. For others, it’s a maintenance inconvenience that isn’t worth the headache and they prefer (and can afford) a more permanent and expensive greenhouse covering material.

Many growers use a double layer of poly film with a blower fan to maintain a pillow of insulating air between them. This setup actually provides some of the best insulation possible. Light transmission levels are normally in the high 80% range for a single layer of clear poly film. White opaque poly film is a good option for growers in really bright and/or tropical locations. Light
transmission for the white poly film is about 55%.

Polycarbonate panels are the rigid greenhouses Greenhouses covering of choice for many greenhouse owners. Panels will last indefinitely though they will start to show signs of UV degradation after about 10 years. There are two main types of polycarbonate panels: single wall corrugated and multi-wall insulate.

I typically don’t recommend single-wall panels except in
areas and for applications where insulating value is of no consequence The
multi-wall panels are almost always going to be an advantageous choice. The multi-wall panels help with energy-efficiency whether your goal is to keep cool or keep warm. Light transmissions range throughout the 80% percent range.

Glass is great! I love the feeling of being inside a perfectly transparent climate controlled green space. However, single pane glass is going to be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The greenhouse frame will also need to be much more substantial to support the weight of all that heavy glass. Shipping costs also reflect the weight of glass.

Many greenhouse growers choose glass despite its expense and fragility because it’s unique attributes is quite precious: Glass gives near 100% light transmission of all spectrums. Glass last forever and is not subject to degradation from ultraviolet rays. Last but not least is the huge aesthetic advantage of being in a glass structure.

Answer Seven Powerful Questions to Deliver Superior Service

Powerful questions force us to think deeply on the topic about which we chose to ask the questions. Powerful questions are ambiguous and evoke accountability.

Here are seven questions we should all ask to unravel what is required to deliver superior customer service.

This question demands two answers.

The first is what is our business? In reaching this understanding it is beneficial to remember the truths embodied in the following story.

One of the world's leading manufacturers of electric power tools invites its new executives to attend an induction course, at the opening session of which they are urged to consider a slide projected onto a large wall screen. The image put before them is of a gleaming electric drill and the executives are asked if this is what the company sells.

The executives look uncertainly around at one another and tend as a group to concede that, yes, this is indeed what the company sells. It seems like a safe bet. They are immediately challenged by the next slide, however, that of a photograph of a hole, neatly drilled in a wall.

'That is what we sell', the trainers suggest with some considerable satisfaction. 'Very few of our customers are passionately committed to the deployment of electric power tools in their homes. They want holes. And it is your jobs as executives in this corporation to find ever more competitive, efficient, and imaginative ways of giving our customers what they want, holes in their walls'.

The second is what does a successful version of our business look like? What values of which financial, customer and community metrics describe our view of a successful business?

The two answers enable us to start to determine how many customers, with what problems, we need to solve in order to have a successful business.

This question demands that we know not only what products or services a customer group needs, but what problem needs to be solved.

Customers will expect us to solve their problem, not just to meet their need. In solving their problem what will they expect in terms of sales, credit, logistics, billing and communication?

We must match the minimum of what they expect with the minimum of what we provide. We must be willing to ask what customers need and not fall into the trap of using the opinion of one (ours). Conducting well constructed and sampled qualitative research is a good way to find out the relative importance of customer expectations and quantitative research to find out how many customers exist with groups of expectations. If we cannot afford to then we should talk to the people from whom our preferred customers buy.

This question demands knowledge of customer's unmet needs.

In addition to understanding what our preferred customers expect as a minimum, we must understand the range of services which they would not expect, but value. In doing so, we will know what services to give to deliver superior service. Typically, these services are low cost ones which we can afford to give away.

For example, following up a customer in retail sales of medium to high value goods or services has high impact on reducing any feelings of remorse over the purchase and highlights any issues over the purchase to be dealt with quickly. The cost is a few minutes of labour and a phone call. The service is unexpected and in the vast majority of cases very welcomed and valued.

This question demands we know how our customers prefer to buy and what problems our approach to selling may cause them.

Designing our business interactions to help our preferred customers buy our goods and services allows us to focus on two things in sequence.

First is to design our processes to help our preferred customers buy, thereby reducing their perceived costs.

Secondly, is with that design of processes in mind, to reduce our costs of executing those processes.

Making it easy to do business with us has two advantages. It usually reduces the cost of the transaction leading to higher available margins. Making it easy to do business with us will also help capture market share of our preferred customer segment, above and beyond what is calculated by a competitive analysis excluding this parameter.

This question demands we know what behaviour, skills and knowledge are required to solve our preferred customer's problem, exceed their expectations and make it easy to buy from us.

To deliver superior service, employees need to believe in delivering superior service. Beliefs drive attitudes and behaviours. An employee's attitude towards customer service is the starting point to delivering superior service.

Recruitment must take into account the beliefs and attitudes of prospective employees as well as their technical skills and experiences.

The beliefs and behaviours of prospective employees must match those required to deliver the minimum service required and the unexpected service which will be valued by our preferred customer segment.

This question demands we know what will win the competition for the behaviour, skills and knowledge we require to provide superior service to our preferred customers.

What rewards and recognition system will encourage the types of employees we want to come to our organisation and to stay, grow and teach others?

What design of performance management system will reinforce the behaviour and performance we need to be able to deliver superior service to our preferred customer segment? Will it weed out those who do not fit because of poor behaviour or poor performance?

This question demands we know not only the values of lagging financial, customer and community metrics that indicate a successful business, but also leading indicators of superior customer service.

Taking time out to ask some or all of these powerful questions on what is necessary to provide superior customer service will create some anxiety. It is designed to. The answers will, in most cases, show a gap between what is happening now and what is needed to deliver superior service.

To close the gap takes both will and ability, not only of the leader of the organisation, but also the team they lead. Involving the team in answering these powerful questions will get the buy-in required to start on the journey to providing superior customer service.

Different Types Of Indoor Heating

Whatever the chosen energy (gas, oil, wood, electricity), you must select the heating installation that suits you best. Here’s a little advice on how to choose the right heating equipment, its installation and other factors? First take a look at different types of heating installations and how they work.

1. The Central Heating System (with hot water pipes)

A single generator (central heating boiler) produces heat, which is transmitted to all parts of the heater (central heating radiator) through a fluid (usually water). This water comes from a boiler that is connected with radiator.

Two major types of boilers:

- Boiler for heating only

- Boiler for heating and hot water central heating

The location of your boiler has a huge impact on central heating.

- The wall boiler (more compact)

- The floor-standing boiler may develop a greater power, but by cons, often takes more space.

And finally, for your central heating, you have to choose one of these two modes of circulation of hot water in radiator pipes.

- The standard central heating radiators

- The floor heating radiators

The last important point on a heating boiler is to select the proper power. You should consider your needs (including hot water), and the characteristics of your home (insulation quality, surface heating, orientation etc) in order to come up with the most energy efficient installation plan.

2. The Decentralised heating

In a decentralised heating system, each room has its own furnace or heater.

Electric heating offers a huge selection of heaters: convector, radiant panels, storage heaters, radiators inertia, and radiator coolants. There are also independent gas heaters or fuel stoves.

The fireplace or wood burning stoves are frequently installed in the living room.

3. The Auxiliary heating

In this category, there are stoves, kerosene heaters and blowers

To select the heating mode best suited for you, you must consider beforehand all the insulation in your house, orientation thereof, and the climate of the region where you live. The main energy is fuel, gas, electricity, wood and wooden products, solar and geothermal.

Four Unsung Technologies That Have Changed Our World.

We've heard them all before-the wheel, the car, the rocket ship, the airplane, the atomic bomb, the Internet. There are a few technologies that have obviously changed our world-some for the better, some for the worse. But in all the hubbub over these obviously world-changing inventions, some equally important technologies have been forgotten. Below are some inventions that have had an undeniable impact on our world-technologies that you wouldn't at first suspect. The stirrup. That's right, that little metal hoop that hangs off a saddle. The partnership of horse and human is undeniably important in the development of warfare-a horse can run approximately three times faster than a person. But the stirrup gave added stability. It gives riders the support that makes it possible to ride all day-no conquering force could travel as far and as quickly as they needed to without it. It also gives an undeniable advantage in battle: maneuverability. A warrior with stirrups can stand, lean from side to side, swing an axe, shoot a bow, or throw a spear without danger of falling off. Chances are, without the stirrup, many battles that have shaped the political landscape and history of our world would have gone differently. The battery. Everyone thinks the invention of electricity was extremely important-and it was. But the battery gives us that electricity in a portable form, making it possible for us to have flashlights, mobile phones, cars, mp3 players, pacemakers-anything that relies on electric power and that isn't practical to plug into the wall. Batteries have made devices both lifesaving and mundane possible, and our world wouldn't look the same without them.Traffic sensors. Most people would cite cars as an important invention. But traffic sensors are an invention that makes car travel possible-especially in crowded cities. In bucolic towns, sensors are a convenience-they sense when your car is waiting at a light, and if there is no car at the opposing light, it will change early and let you go through. But in a big city with millions of intersections to coordinate, traffic sensors play a crucial role in keeping lights properly timed and congestion to a minimum. Traffic would be much more complicated to manage without traffic sensors.Cement. Without it, we would have no skyscrapers or highways. We would also have no Egyptian Pyramids or Appian Way. Cement has played an incredibly important role throughout the history of civilization, as a durable building material that holds up under extreme stress and seriously long-term erosive forces. It's strong yet flexible enough to support a skyscraper, durable enough to hold up under millions of cars and trucks per day on our nation's busiest highways, and long-lasting enough to have held the Great Pyramid together for over four thousand years. These inventions are all undeniably crucial-although they wouldn't be at the top of the list for best-known important technologies. So next time you drop your keys at night, read about the fall of Rome, sit in traffic at an intersection, or take to the highway, think about where we'd be without the battery, the stirrup, the traffic sensor, and cement. We're lucky these technologies came along.

How to Buy Your First Electric Bass Guitar Online, Along with Other Sundry Items

The stories are varied, sorted, and some, like all good steely yarns are mythical.

'Dude, I walked in to this ol' fisherman's shop and there, hanging on the wall was the bass, the bass that would be the first and last bass of the rest of my life!'

Some are practical.

'ActiveMusician was having a sale, I picked the first one I saw, it was like blue, I like like blue, and hey, like blue for $150 bucks who could like argue?'

OK, OK, so we would all hope that picking out your bass would land somewhere in between these two extremes, somewhat mythical with just a hint of practicality. Either way it would be nice to have a good story but let's face it, you probably have a guitar player friend that wants you to join his band as the bass player. 'How hard could it be to buy a bass guitar online?' he says. Well, the truth is, not very hard at all. Let's read on.

How to Buy a Bass Guitar

First, let's decide what it is you would like to do with your bass. Do you want to practice for 18 hours a day? Bring it home and be playing gigs within the week? (bad bass player joke withheld for editorial concerns). Hang it on a wall with a custom guitar hanger and never play it? Well, I would assume it's somewhere in the middle. As a long time bass instructor, I would encourage you to practice 18 hours a day but hey, that’s just me. OK, 4 hours. 4 hours is OK? Then 5 hours - git back in there. I want 5 more hours before supper!

'OK, so my guitar player friend says I'm interested in the bass, how do I start looking? What do I look for? How much is this new interest gonna cost me?'

If you're unsure if your new band is even going to last through next week, there's a good crop of Squier basses for under $200, like the Squier Affinity P Bass, the Squier Affinity J Bass and the Squier MB-4. Very playable, solid sound, and very affordable. If you've already got next month's show booked, then I would recommend a mid-level bass, something in the $500 dollar range. The Fender standard four string is the kind of bass that will give you a professional sound right out of the box. It has professional, quality-made pickups, and for those of you who live in the warm climates of the South or the cold un-forgiving winters of Canada (hey, I'm from Canada), the neck will stay fairly straight and won't bow like a banana at the first sign of extreme weather. Fender has been building basses since the beginning of time and they're always a safe bet for your first instrument.

Buy yourself a tuner! Let's face it, playing the bass isn't rocket science (at least initially) and you'll be plucking out songs in no time and wanting to jam with that guitar player friend of yours. When the jam starts you'll want to be ready to play so a tuner (especially for beginners) is essential in getting you up and playing quickly. It will also help to make sure you're in tune with all those CDs you're gonna want to jam with (during your 18 hour practice day). I've had much success with the Korg DT-3 Guitar and Bass Tuner, which I actually picked up from this very site (thank you very much). It's sturdy, small, easy to use, and has nice large lights on it for old guys like me, and maybe you if this is some sort of mid-life crisis thing.

Next you want to get yourself a practice amp. In this area you want to think small, mighty, and preferably combo, which, for those that don't know, is the speaker and amplifier in one easy to lift package. Most people make the mistake of getting something that isn't loud enough, they truck it over to that same guitar player's house, this time a drummer's shown up (he convinced him too), and your bass parts (and yes, hopefully they're parts) become a distorted mess. Bass is meant to be warm, fuzzy, like a furry animal that you love and feed until it gets really fat and everyone drops by to pinch its cheeks. For this we need something that will comfortably fit in our practice area and still be loud enough for the perennial cheek pinching.

I generally tell people that if you can get a bass amp over 100 watts, you'll be safe. Behringer is making great combo amps these days and you can't beat the price. Check out the Behringer Ultrabass BXL3000A - 300 watts, a large 15' speaker and you won't blow a disc when lifting it into the rehearsal space.

After a while, you'll notice that the bass isn't sounding, well, all that great anymore. What ever could be the problem? That problem is old strings. Now I have my particular favorites and like any of you know who have made it this far in the article I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Basically, I don't understand steel strings at all - people say they last longer but I'm a nickel man and I'll tell ya why. For any of you who have tried steel strings, you'll notice that they feel like they have a sticky, dry kind of feel to them. For me, the fingers of my right hand feel as though they are literally sticking to the stings. For this reason, I recommend something like D'Addario EXP170SL Bass Strings. They are soft on your hands while you do dishes (OK, bad commercial reference for anyone over the age of 35) but really, they are silky smooth and they sound a lot brighter than steel!

Wanna know how to spot a Beginner? They're the ones without the gig bag. That's right, you know who you are. You've bought a bass and hey, the case is included! I say that's fine for protecting your bass when you move cross-country, but for everyday use, get yourself a gig bag. You'll look cooler and one arm won't become suddenly longer than the other on the repeated trips over to said guitar players house. The Fender Deluxe Gig Bag is the obvious fit for your new Fender bass. Wear your bass in style! People will stare, point, and say, 'hey, now there goes a real musician!'

OK, hopefully that helped a little. Now go and buy that bass, and tell them Chris Tarry sent ya! I'll wait..... Got it? Good, now get in that practice room!

So What Broadband Options are Available to You

Broadband is the name given to high speed Internet connection, which is becoming the preferred way to surf the Web. Dial-Up is quickly becoming a thing of the past, but as more and more people look towards broadband technology to improve their Internet experiences, the question of what service to get pops of often. For that reason, it’s important to know just what your broadband options are, so that you can make an informed decision on how to assimilate high-speed Internet access into your home and your life. There are three major broadband options currently available: Cable, DSL, and Satellite. In addition to these, there are some future broadband options that are soon to emerge, and they’re worth keeping your eye on.

Let’s start by talking about cable, which is used by more people than any of the other broadband options that are currently available. This is because, for the most part, cable is cheaper, faster, and more reliable than the other services that are available. After all, it is much cheaper to hook up a cable to your computer than to rely on expensive satellite networks or any wireless equipment. There are some problems with Cable, though. Since you have to share a bandwidth with your neighbors, if the company you choose fails to keep up the bandwidth in your area, the speed of your Internet is likely to fall.

Earthlink is one of the most popular providers of cable broadband. For only $41.95 a month, you’ll have fast Internet access throughout your home, and Earthlink does not have any set up or equipment fees. You only have to play for the service you receive. Another major cable Broadband competitor is Cablevision. While it has a slightly cheaper monthly rate, you are responsible for paying for the modem, which costs about $129.95. This service claims to be faster than Earthlink, but that all depends on the bandwidth available, as Earthlink tends to have more.

DSL is quickly growing in popularity and is the closest rival to cable connections these days. By choosing a company that offers DSL, you won’t have to share bandwidth with your neighbors. That means that your Internet speed will remain constant. If you are a business owner, DSL companies tend to have more options for you, whereas other services cater more towards the home. Many DSL companies have gone out of business, however, so make sure you find a reputable one that will preferably offer free installation, since installing DSL on your own is difficult.

Earthlink, the same company that offers cable broadband, also offers DSL in over 90 markets nationwide. It costs $49.95 a month, and once again offers no extra fees for setup or equipment. With a decent download and upload speed, it stands up to its competitors in price and quality. Another major DSL competitor is MSN Broadband, which is cheaper per month by ten dollars. However, there is a one-time fee of $99 for activation. A “Gold” plan is also offered that costs the same as Earthlink and offers an even faster connection. The activation fee still applies.

Finally, we reach the third option that’s widely available: Satellite. This doesn’t have nearly as many subscribers as cable or DSL, though it hasn’t been available as long. The great thing about getting a satellite connection is that it is offered everywhere, so if you live in an area that cable or DSL isn’t offered in, you can still have fast Internet access with a satellite provider. Also, if you already have satellite television, you should check with your provider to see if they offer Internet access as well. More often than not, you can get a great offer by purchasing both services from the same company. The satellite option offers excellent service, but it the most expensive option of the major three. Your service can also be affected by the weather, just like your satellite television.

As usual, Earthlink offers satellite broadband service for only $69.95 per month. The hardware to get everything going is very pricey, costing $399. You’re also going to have to pay for installation and a modem. After all these costs are added together, the whole system starts to get pretty expensive. However, if you’re willing to shell out the cash for it, you’ll get some of the fastest speeds available from any broadband option today.

Now that you’ve gotten a taste for the three major broadband options, let’s goes over the emerging options that are slowly becoming available, just so you can get a taste of the future of broadband. The first is power line broadband, which uses electric utility lines to transfer data. This technology is still in the testing phases, but companies in Cincinnati and Manassas, Va are offering broadband services such as this, while North Carolina and Washington, D.C. are testing the technology. This broadband option brings Internet access straight into people’s home through their wall sockets. All you’ll have to do is plug in and start surfing. Some companies can’t get past power transformers, though, and offer the service through a wireless modem.

Many phone companies have started offering their own broadband wireless service only a couple years ago. They’re now starting to become very popular, though they tend to cost more than DSL or cable options. While this may not appeal to homes, people on the go will be the most likely to take advantage of the service.

So there you have it, all the broadband options available to you today. If you’re looking for faster Internet service and quicker downloads, look into getting set up with one of the options discussed here. This is especially true if you’re still dealing with dial-up. Cable and DSL are most certainly the way most people will want to go today, though satellite coverage has an appeal to many people, especially to those households and businesses that operate outside of DSL or cable company’s areas. So choose the option that’s right for you, and start enjoying faster Internet access.

Garage Heating - Practical And Affordable

A typical two car garage represents approximately 20% of the usable space in an average home. In addition, there are currently over 40 million single family residential garages in the U.S. But the fact is, garages are simply the most under-utilized spaces of the home, especially during the winter months. Why? There may be any number of reasons, but one of the most obvious is that garages are typically left cold during the winter, making them uncomfortable to use for any other purpose than parking cars and storing tools.

Within the past 10 years that negative view of the garage has changed dramatically. Climatizing the garage has become much more than an afterthought. In fact, Insulating and providing some type of heat source in the garage has become a priority for many homeowners.

"There is a push among residential building contractors to offer their customers the option of providing garage heat to the new homebuyer", says Matt Workman, of Infra-Red Products Supply, Inc., located in Draper, Utah. "In fact, when given the option by the builder, the homebuyer will almost always choose to have the contractor insulate the garage along with the rest of the home during the construction phase. In addition, when given the option, the homebuyer will at least opt for a gas line connection and/or the necessary electrical connections to handle a heating appliance - with the idea of having a heater installed later on. Now more often than ever, a garage heater is installed during the final stages of home construction. It's an amenity homeowners want and an extra profit incentive for the builder."

"There are numerous practical reasons for heating the garage" states Mr. Workman, " including mechanical maintenance, freeze control, hobby, recreation (table tennis or excercise), pet comfort, wood working or simply to be able to climb inside a warm car on a bitter cold day. For men more than women, the garage is a sanctuary - a place to get away, tinker around and do minor repairs. For women and stay at home moms, it can be a haven for excercise or simply a place to send the kids to bounce a ball or play games." Many homeowners even go to great lengths to make the garage feel like the dwelling space of the home by installing recessed lighting, closed cabinet storage and even a sink. Painting the walls and floors and adding a little decorating touch can also make the garage a more inviting - a place where anyone would want to spent more time.

For existing homeowners as well, there seems to be an increased interest in upgrading and improving the "livability" of the garage. One reason is that home prices have risen sharply across the nation, making a move into a larger home impratical or unobtainable for many families. Rather than moving up to larger homes, many choose to stay put and maximize the use of the space in their existing home. In these cases, a small investment in upgrades to the garage is quite practical, especially when considering the cost of a new mortgage and associated costs of relocating. A heated, climatized garage can provide just that little extra room to spread out and make the garage useful year-round.

One of the major concerns people might have with heating their garage is cost. The good news is there are numerous ways to heat a garage to fit almost any budget. Options include gas forced air (unit heaters), electric forced air, direct vent wall heaters, infra-red tube heaters and vent free heaters. Prices can range from $450.00 to $2,500.00(installed), depending upon garage size and the type of heating appliance. (The author of this article strongly recommends an appliance that is CSA approved for residential use. Portable propane or kerosene heaters in an attached garage are not safe, especially in the presence of gasoline cans, solvents and other products that may pose a fire hazard should there be a spill on the garage floor. A permanent heater mounted high on the wall or suspended from the ceiling offers the best safety and places the heater out of the way of vehicles and people passing through).

One of the most affordable and popular heaters on the market is the Heatstar H25N vent free garage heater by Enerco. This is an infra-red radiant heater designed specifically for residential garages and small shops. It is vent free, safe, and requires no electricity. Simply hang the heater and run the gas line and you're done. Other heaters are more expensive and require additional labor. These include forced air in both gas and electric. Gas forced air heaters (also called unit heaters) are ceiling suspended and require a flue to the outside and 110V electrical power, while electric forced air heaters require no venting at all, yet require 240V electrical hook-up.

Larger detached garages or shops may best be suited to a gas infra-red tube heater, which also requires an outside flue. Unlike forced air heaters, however, vented tube heaters operate on the principle of infra-red (radiant) energy and are much quieter and more efficient to operate. And because tube heaters do not blow air, drafts are virtually eliminated, creating a more comfortable environment.

As for operational cost, the most practical thing the homeowner can do is insulate. Insulate well! That's easier to do prior to sheet rocking the walls, but even glued on foam or blue board can make a dramatic difference in cutting down heat loss. In addition, an inexpensive door seal (available from most garage door suppliers) can cut down on infiltration of cold air from the outside around the perimeter of the overhead garage door. Also, any leaks from man doors and windows to the outside should be sealed. A well insulated garage can cut heat loss by at least 90% compared to an uninsulated garage. This means that your heater will not need to run all that often to maintain comfort and the cost to operate can be just pennies a day.

Regardless of one's reasons for adding heat to the garage, there are now a host of practical and affordable heating solutions to do it. There are several companys in the U.S. who specialize in garage heating. They can be very helpful in sizing and recommending a system suited to the homeowners specific requirements. Heater Repair When It’s Hot Outside

Plasma vs LCD TVs

For a layman, there seems to be no difference between a plasma and LCD TV. Both provide high-resolution, high-contrast images and both are flat, sleek and can be mounted on a wall. The difference lies in the technology that drives them.

Plasma TVs work with inert gases like xenon or neon, which are excited by electric pulses from specialized cells called pixels. This makes the gases glow. These glowing gases, in turn, produce the correct blend of red, blue and green light on the pixels. The pixels are illuminated by a fluorescent light bulb, which is driven by semiconductor software on the motherboard.

LCDs are actually thin film transistors (TFT), which contain liquid filled crystals between two plates of glass. LCDs work by blocking out unwanted light. When the signal hits the TFTs, they contort to a required angle, thus allowing only the requisite amount of light to pass through. A lamp behind the screen or a thin LCD bulb provides illumination to the TFT.

LCD TVs and plasma TVs have their individual strengths and weaknesses. Plasma TVs show better contrasts. Contrast means the ratio between the blackest black and the whitest white. A plasma TV can produce contrasts of even 3000 to 1, which is very high by LCD standards. LCD TVs can provide contrasts up to 900 to 1. However, in LCD technology, even a low contrast ratio can produce much better images.

Plasma TVs produce colors by addition of red, blue and green while LCD TVs produce colors by blocking unwanted light from the spectrum. Hence, plasma TVs produce colors by additive principle, while LCD TVs do the same by subtractive principle. That's why plasma TVs are much better at producing colors than LCD TVs.

Plasma TVs also have wide viewing angles, as much as 160 degrees. Since LCD TVs produce images by an LCD lamp behind the screen, viewing angles aren't wide. LCD TVs produce differently colored images when viewed at higher horizontal angles.

Though plasma technology wins over LCD technology in color, contrast and brightness, LCD wins hands down when it comes to the functionality. LCD TVs have greater longevity. Most LCD TVs can last up to twice the lifetime of a plasma TV. LCD TVs are also better suited to usage at higher altitudes or while traveling, because LCD technology does not use any gases, and is not subjected to air pressure.

LCD TVs are also energy efficient, as they require less voltage. This helps in reducing electricity bills.

Earlier LCD TVs were priced much higher than plasma TVs. But due to stiff competition, their prices have come down drastically. According to their current standing, LCD TVs cost only marginally more than plasma TVs.

Tips To Choose Best Location For Your Portable Infrared Heater

Experiencing the efficient heat everywhere in your home is possible only by placing the heater at the right place. Even if the heating system is highly efficient, wrong placement will only waste the emitted heat, particularly in the case of portable infrared heaters. In spite of their high efficiency and flexibility, if they are not properly located, the heat transferred by them will only be wasted. Besides this, right placing also ensures proper maintenance of the heater.

Hence, this article aims to help you choose the best location for your portable infrared heater. However, let's first know why to prefer portable infrared heaters.

Benefits of portable infrared heaters
Infrared heaters are considered to be the most reliable and efficient home heating systems as they directly warm the people or objects present on the given space. The radiation emitted by infrared heaters is similar to natural radiation from the sun. Portable features of these heaters make them much more beneficial. Some of the benefits that make their choice inevitable are:

Convenient to use in desired locations: Portable infrared heaters can be placed at any desired location in your home, both indoors and outdoors. Their ability to move from one place to the other allows you to use them in your living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, garage, balcony, garden or any other place.

Easy installation: The simple design of these heaters allows you to install it on your own with minimum effort. However, it is better to install it under the guidance of a professional. As they can be installed and uninstalled easily, they can be transferred to any desired location within no time.

Available in various designs: Availability of these heaters in various designs, styles and sizes make them customizable for any space. They can be simply placed above the floor or mounted on a wall.

Tips to locate a portable infrared heater
Now that you have known the benefits of portable infrared heaters and are ready to purchase one, you need to know where you need to install it to make it effective.

Choose a flat surface: It is essential to place a portable infrared heater on a flat and non-flammable surface. Placing the heater on an uneven surface can tilt it to one side. Kids or pets passing through may touch the tilted heater and slide it off. A simple flat surface like a table which can support the heater's weight is best to place it in your room.

Avoid positioning it near windows: A portable infrared heater should not be placed near windows. An open area or an area with high rate of air movement may exhaust or dissipate the warm air to a large extent. This simultaneously reduces the amount of heat you enjoy. However, limited ventilation system to let out the air and harmful gases is necessary for certain models of infrared heaters.

Prefer central location in larger areas: Efficient heating even in larger areas can be achieved with portable infrared heater. However, it should be placed in a central location to heat entire space, in all directions. When considering placing the heater in large rooms like garage, it can be installed near the working area to get maximum heat without any wastage.

Place it at a certain height from the floor: Keeping the portable infrared heater at a certain height from the floor ensures maximum heat. Especially, in case of a bare concrete floor it should be kept a few feet above the floor as the concrete acts as heat sink and absorbs some of the heat.

Install at moderate height on wall: While installing portable infrared heater either permanently or temporarily on the wall, mount it at moderate height so as to allow the heat transfer to all locations. They can be mounted on a wall of a room or porch or patio. When planning to hang an infrared heater on a wall, assure that it is installed at moderate height. Hanging at lower height may cause inconvenience when you are walking from one room to another.

Apart from the above, it is necessary to locate the heater away from hanging items like drapes, window treatments, furniture, clothing, bedding, rugs and other combustibles. Placing a heater at right location assures efficient heating as well as safety.

The Mechanism Of Air Conditioners

Imagine about the extremely hot summers with the interiors of your office or home emanating hot waves making it intolerable for you to work or relax. Had there been no air conditioners, the earth would have been a difficult place to live in. The climate today is more affected by global warming resulting in the extremes of weather conditions. The demand for window air conditioner and split air conditioner has increased over the years. The market is full of air conditioners of different brands in different capacities and specifications in equally varying prices, but the basic objective is same – cooling the interior space.

You may generally come across two types of window air conditioner systems, viz. unitary and wall split air conditioning systems, also termed packaged terminal PTAC systems. The first type is the commonest; you need a wall opening or window with interior controls to place it. The process involves blowing of a fan over the evaporator, resulting in the cooling of interior air. A second fan blows the heated air on the exterior over the condenser. The mechanism thus discharges the interior heated air into the open. The unitary system or window air conditioner can cool only one room at a time. A building with several rooms or a large house may install several such individual units to cool each room separately.

A wall split air conditioner or PTAC system is also called a ductless system. The mechanism is a bit different from that of a window air conditioner. Terminal packages, i.e. two separate units - the evaporative unit on the exterior and the condensing unit on the interior – are used. The two separated units are connected by a tube through the wall. You can adjust each room independently at the same time minimizing the interior system footprint. Using a wall split air conditioner, you can even heat up your rooms during the winter. All you need to use is an electric strip, gas or other heater. You may also make the system blow hot air by getting the refrigerant flow reversed.

Gone were the days when buying a window air conditioner or split air conditioner made a hole in your pocket. Owning air conditioners proved very expensive besides paying for the huge electricity bills due to extra electricity consumption. Today, prices have relatively come down with energy saving options. You can buy these products from online shops and avail big discounts.

Baseboard Heaters From Cadet

Enjoying a strong share of the heating market, baseboard heating hasalways worked as a widespread heating solution along with radiant heating, and forced air systems. They were by no means intended as a method to warm your whole home, but for additional heat, or simply a solution to heat a new expansion or room, baseboard heaters are a frequently chosen option.

Possibly one of the most broadly recognized brands in this market is Cadet. This company was founded back in 1957, in Vancouver, WA, when new home construction was prospering, and home builders were beginning to stray away from the standard radiators in each room. Cadet have always had a commitment to new expertise and development, maintaining them at the pinnacle of the baseboard heater industry.

There happens to be 2 types of Cadet heaters, one employing an electric element, and the other hydronic. The two units function by means of convection, although warm the air differently. Electric versions utilize a calrod element, covered with steel to warm the air that passes over it, while the hydronic method utilizes a sealed cylinder of water to warm the air. Cadet describe this method as 'soft heat', which is coined as a result of the lower operational temperatures, and efficiently warms the area with out the excess radiation that the electric counterparts generate.

Built to the superior standards that consumers have started to count on from Cadet, each of their units abide to all present safety policies, and manufactured to the optimum industry guidelines. When thinking of fitting one of these products, it is beneficial to be aware that although the electric models can be operated off either a 120 or 240V power supply, the hydronic versions solely run off 240V, meaning that if you happen to be in a country that has 120V, you must make it possible for 2 separate power cables to be supplied, which may need outside support from a specialist.

Cadet additionally produces a series of convenient space heaters, electric radiant floor heating, thermostats, and fan-forced wall heaters too. Cadet are a very reachable company on the internet, but their items are also widely available throughout the United States.

How to make your home more energy efficient

How to make your home more energy efficient

Modern homes are much more efficient than they were 30 years ago, but there is still much more that can be done. Many of us could save 20-30% on our energy bills through improvements such as the purchasing of more energy efficient appliances, sealing air and duct leaks, and adding loft and cavity wall insulation.

Preparing your heating for the winter

Winter is the season when we consume the greatest amount of energy, mainly for the purposes of keeping warm. Having your central heating system serviced before winter will help. You can also vacuum out the vents and other heating apparatus. And consider having a setback thermostat fitted. It regulates the temperature, allowing the home to be less warm when you are away or asleep.

Seal gaps around doors and windows.

Put in weather stripping around doors and windows and caulk gaps where necessary. A large amount of heat is wasted through doors and windows not being sealed correctly.

Seal any other leaks

Use caulking and weather stripping around entry points for all pipes and ducts that travel through an external wall.

Check the fireplace.

Take time to check the chimney to make sure it is clear of leaves and nests built by birds or squirrels.

Inspect your insulation

Check out your roof. One of the most efficient ways to save on heating is to have sufficient loft insulation. If you don't know how to tell, look for your ceiling joists. If you can see them, you need more lagging.

Keep your hot water hot

It costs about 14% of your overall bill to heat your water. Wrapping an insulation blanket around your water heater, insulating your water pipes and considering the installation of a timer on all electric water heaters can save you money. And you could turn the direction of heating vents from up to down because hot air always rises.

It is important that we all make our homes more energy efficient for future generations and ourselves. Conserving energy just makes sense. Saving energy equals saving money..

Energy efficiency and energy conservation is important all year round. And it begins with us.

Wall Heaters

There are some people who enjoy using their backyard patio area during the warmer months of the year. This can be for small parties or to sit out and read a book outside and enjoy the evening. At times when the cooler weather comes, the patio can become a bit too cold. There are heating solutions so that you can have a few extra months outdoors. One of these is hanging wall heaters which actually have quite an advantage for patio heating.

These types of heaters are out of the way as they are attached to the wall. This means that you don't have to worry about tipping a heater over or tripping over cords unlike some other patio heaters for your yard.

One huge advantage that many don't think of is the enclosed glass that these types of heaters have on them. Many outdoor products are exposed to the elements all year long. This means that bugs and moisture can get into them. With this barrier of glass, spiders and moisture won't get into the internal mechanics helping protect this type of heater.

Most of the heaters than hang on the wall are electric. This means that you won't have to run to the store for propane canisters or have a professional install natural gas lines to the heater. Electricity is the simplest and easiest way of powering a backyard device like this.

These types of heaters will directly heat the objects in front of them. They aren't designed to heat the air like other models do. This is a huge advantage especially in windy areas. You can't afford to heat up the air around the heater so heating objects in the path of the heater is the most efficient way of getting the heat that you are looking for.

While there are other solutions to this problem, these heaters have quite a few advantages that are hard to pass up.

Today, Stiebel Eltron is the largest manufacturer of water heaters in Germany and the company is known for its high quality, well engineered products. Their primary focus in product development has been on products that use less energy, were much safer, and that give the consumers higher levels of comfort. Stiebel Eltron is regarded as a very successful company in the environmental control and system engineering sectors of the building industry. Stiebel Eltron manufacturers electric tankless water heaters, thermal solar products, automatic hand dryers, space heaters and wall heaters.

Stiebel Eltron is all so a micro generation product specialist, and is embarking on solar PV with a range targeting homes and businesses with an eye on their country's new Feed-in Tariff. German-owned Stiebel Eltron, known for its heat pumps, claims its foray into solar energy will appeal through a 10-year guarantee and a high performance of 90 per cent of original specification for 12 years and 80 per cent for 25 years.

UK managing director Mark McManus said Stiebel Eltron will vigorously target consumers tempted by the UK government’s new Feed in Tariff, introduced in April. The company estimates that a well sited 2.5 kW PV installation can generate £900 ($1400) a year from contributing to the UK grid as well as a saving of up to £140 ($220) on electricity bills. Figures show a sharp increase in demand for solar PV with 6930 panels being installed in the domestic sector alone since April. Our product is designed to be one of the most efficient on the market and It will be aimed at all markets e.g. domestic, social, hospitals, schools and councils. We will further be targeting private businesses looking to cut their carbon footprint and take advantage of the FiT.

Solar PV would be most effective in cutting carbon and energy bills if used in combination with other green energy products such as heat pumps, wind turbines, insulation and rain water harvesting. The Stiebel Eltron Company has been in existence for more than 80 years and is currently the largest manufacturer of tankless electric water heaters in the world.
